Community service project
Each year, the guild selects a charity to which it directs its efforts. For the 2011-2012 year, the guild has elected to make tote bags for our veterans and their families.
Our bags will be given to the Veteran’s Administration serving Southeastern Wisconsin located in Milwaukee. The VA will build a Fisher House on the VA grounds this year. The Fisher House is a welcoming place for family members to stay while their vet is receiving chemotherapy. The bags will be used by veterans and family members to carry laundry and personal items. A variety of sizes are welcome. All bags will be given to the VA in May 2012.
Patterns for a few bags are listed at right to help get you started. Tote bags will be collected at each meeting by Patty Martin. Our guild’s collective efforts and all the tote bags will be displayed at our quilt show.
A prize will be offered for members who make a dozen bags or more and a prize for the most bags. Prizes to be determined.
